Silver FR Net 8mm is a fire-retardant, net-reinforced reflective insulation for roofs, ceilings and walls. It has 99% pure aluminium foil on both faces over an 8mm air-bubble core, with FR additive in the film layers, an 18 micron foil and a bi-directional reinforcing net bonded to the foil. The result is a tear-resistant, fire rated radiant barrier for demanding roofs and large-span buildings.

What is Silver FR Net 8mm reflective insulation?

Silver FR Net 8mm (product code AL-SL80-FRNT) is a five-layer reflective insulation. Its construction is 9 µm foil / 8 to 10 mm FR air bubble (30 mm diameter) / 18 µm foil / bi-directional reinforcing net. The net is bonded to the foil, so the sheet resists tearing during installation and in service.

It is classified BS 476 Part 7 Class 1 and BS 476 Part 6 Class 0, and complies with EN standards.

Thermal performance: R-value by assembly

Reflective insulation works best when installed next to an air gap. The total system R-value depends on how many reflective air cavities are created in the roof, ceiling or wall.

Values are total system R in m²K/W. Cavity resistance calculated to BS EN ISO 6946 (ref. BS EN 16012) for an unventilated cavity with a low-emissivity surface (ε 0.02 to 0.03). Core product R 0.18 m²K/W applies to the product alone without a reflective air cavity.

How to install Silver FR Net 8mm on a roof or ceiling

1. Measure the roof or ceiling area and work out the number of rolls needed for the total m².
2. Set the purlins or rafters to the correct spacing.
3. Lay Silver FR Net over the purlins or under the rafters, with the foil face toward the heat source.
4. Fix with screws and cut to length, keeping the sheet taut.
5. Seal all joints and overlaps with aluminium foil tape.

Air gap tip: for optimum thermal performance, install it facing an enclosed air gap so its low-emissivity surface can deliver the published R-value.

Silver FR Net 8mm is certified to BS 476 Part 6 & 7 (Class 1 / Class 0), EN 13501-1, ASTM C 1371, ISO 8301 / ASTM C 518 and BS EN ISO 6946. Test reports and certificates are available on request.
