Nine-layer multi-foil with five MTX aluminium foils and four 10 mm sealed air layers. Reflects up to 98% of radiant heat, core R 1.02.
Save Cool Mega 40mm is a multi-layer reflective thermal insulation for under-roof and ceiling applications. Five MTX aluminium foil layers are interleaved with four 10 mm sealed air-bubble layers, 40 mm in total, giving the highest core R-value in the Save Cool range at 1.02 m²K/W. It is laid on top of ceiling boards and T-bar panels to keep lofts, attics and the rooms below cool.

What is Save Cool Mega 40mm insulation?
Save Cool Mega 40mm (product code SC-MEGA-40) is a nine-layer multifoil / triplex insulation. Its construction is 5 x MTX aluminium foil / 4 x 10 mm sealed air-bubble layers. The MTX foil has 98% reflectivity, and the stacked air layers add bulk thermal resistance.
The material is fire-retardant (FR) formulated, water-resistant and non-fibrous, with no mould growth and no insect or rodent nesting.

Thermal performance: R-value by assembly
Reflective insulation works best when installed next to an air gap. The total system R-value depends on how many reflective air cavities are created in the roof, ceiling or wall.

Values are total system R in m²K/W. Cavity resistance calculated to BS EN ISO 6946 (ref. BS EN 16012) for an unventilated cavity with a low-emissivity surface (ε 0.02 to 0.03). Core product R 1.02 m²K/W applies to the product alone without a reflective air cavity. Reflectivity relates to the foil surface, so keep it clean, unpainted and facing the heat source.

How to install Save Cool Mega on a ceiling or T-bar
- Measure the installation area and prepare the roll quantity needed to meet the m².
- Bring the rolls up to the loft or attic area.
- Unroll and lay the sheets on top of the ceiling boards or panels.
- Cover the full area evenly, leaving no gaps between sheets.
- Seal all joints and overlaps with aluminium foil tape.
Air gap tip: keep a 20 to 90 mm air gap on the reflective face for best performance, and maintain at least 75 mm clearance from downlights.
